I'm going to write Part 2 of our Mauritius trip. Mauritius is slightly different from Maldives. Maldives is popular for their water villas in different island while Mauritius is not. Most resorts in Mauritius are in main island and mostly are beach resorts. The beach in Maldives are more beautiful and not so many corals like in Mauritius. We need a beach shoes to walk in the beach of Mauritius. May and June are their starts of Winter, so the weather is like 25 deg during the day and around 18 deg at night. When the wind blows, it's really cold. A jacket is needed if you plan to go during their winter season.
After many good review, we choose Sands Suites Resort & Spa. This hotel is about 1 hr car drive from airport and they do not provide airport transfer. (They provide with cost). We booked half board for our stay which includes breakfast and dinner.
It is a small and cozy resorts which has many friendly staffs. Their room are so spacious which comes with balcony, bathtub, shower area, toilet area and walk-in wardrobe. We took Superior room :)
Their staff are friendly and very thoughtful. They accommodate our request well. As we went on my birthday, they planned a nice birthday for me. A small cake for us after our buffet dinner.
Please pardon our messy hair and shag face after the long flight and land transfer.. lol
This hotel also provide a short tour around hotel for the guest to let us familiarized with the surrounding. So we joined that after our breakfast with another couple from France. They came to celebrate the husband's birthday and their 45th wedding anniversary. Isn't it sweet? I hope we can celebrate our 45th anniversary there too.. Or other nice places that we nv visit before. hee...
There is infinity pool at this hotel which overlook the Tamarin Bay.
Nice view with beautiful rainbow.. I'm excited when the rainbow appeared.... (I guess everyone too)
So we walked to the beach, and we can actually walked to Tamarin bay through the "forest". And here is the Tamarin bay area: There are many day tour meeting point there for Dolphin. (see my other blog)
Notice that we wore beach shoes all the time as there are many small coral at Mauritius's beaches. We bought these pairs from Qoo10 which is value for $$.
After the walked, we were lucky that there are some hotel boat at the beach of tamarin, so here we are taking the boat back instead of walking back..
This hotel has some activities for guest at free of charge like kayak, glass bottom boat ride, snorkeling trip, aquagym and many more which you can find from their website here. I saw few couple doing their aquagym which seems fun. Regret that I didnt join them :(
They have also planned a special seafood night for us as we missed their seafood night as we are flying off. (It's a really sumptuous seafood meals that they given us). Their dinner not really to our liking even though they changed their menu daily. But this special seafood night is a plus point. We really enjoyed it on our last night there. breakfast are pretty standard with bread, pastry, egg station.
Overall experience with this hotel, nice experience, cozy and value for money.
Note: For those with kids, I think this hotel is not suitable for kids, I didn't see many kids during our stay. There is no kids club too.. So, those with kids, better to stay at other hotel :)
What we did daily is laze at the swimming pool and beach area..
I know alot of ppl who loves to see photos than to read the blog, so I try to upload more photos... lol
